🎉 What an amazing experience for McDonald County High School business students! 🎉
They were invited to attend the opening of the newest Airship Coffee location in Bentonville before it officially opened to the public. 😲
💡 Airship company trainers are working with the students as they begin to open the Student Chamber Coffee Shop, River Blend Coffee Company, on the Pineville square. ☕
This newest Airship location is in the Ledger building, the first-ever bikeable business building with bicycle access to all six floors! 🚲 The students were also able to tour that building and learn more about co-working spaces.
A huge thank you to the team at Airship for hosting them and sharing your expertise. 🙏
Can’t wait to see what great ideas the students bring back! 💪

🧑🏫 Our teachers are kicking off the new year by hitting the books 📚 to help students succeed.
➡️ They’ve been using the last two days before students return to class to catch up on the latest teaching methods and curriculum updates.
School leaders say this training provides teachers with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the second semester and beyond. That will help students succeed as well. 👍
Students return to classes to hit the books on Wednesday, January 4. 🏫

💪 A friendly competition is paying off in a big way for some McDonald County students.
Pineville 7th graders Riley Farris and Brionna Ziemianin are part of a team in Mrs. Sutherland’s technology class competing for donations for their upcoming school carnival. 🎪
Riley has some contacts with a retail analytics company in northwest Arkansas -The Allen Sullivan Company. 📊
He was able to line up a video call with Steve Gohde, one of the company’s owners. Riley and Brionna used the skills learned in Mrs. Sutherland’s class to create and give a presentation talking about Pineville Elementary and some of the school’s technology needs. 🧑💻
Mr. Gohde was so impressed with their presentation and the job both students did while presenting that he donated $5,000 💰 to the school!
What a win for the kids and the school! 🎉
🙏We are so thankful to the Allen Sullivan Company for that donation and for Riley and Brionna turning learning into action! ➡️

🇺🇲 A hands-on lesson about honor and respect. 🇺🇲
The students in McDonald County High School’s JROTC program played a major role in the ceremony honoring fallen soldier Chris Marion.
He’s the McDonald County graduate who died in battle in 2006 while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq.
Marion was remembered with guest speakers, a 21-gun salute, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a dedication of a new sign marking the official naming of the U.S. Army PFC Christopher Lee Marion Highway.
The JROTC students helped with all aspects of the event including planning, setup, and tear down.
Applying lessons from the classroom to the ceremony grounds.
So proud of our students and what they’re doing to show respect and remembrance to a fallen hero. ❤️

🧀 Say Cheese!!! 🧀
😄 Lots of smiles, laughter, and learning in Mrs. Stark’s AP Biology class as these McDonald County High School students made small samples of cheese.
🧑🔬 The student scientists started with milk, added some vinegar, heated it up, added other activators, and then squished out the whey for an often messy and nonedible version of the dairy product! 🤢
🧪 It’s all part of a hands-on lesson about enzymes, proteins, coagulation, chemical reactions, and more!

It’s stories 📖 instead of snacks🍫!
👉 The new book vending machine is a hit at Noel Primary School.
Students, teachers, and members of the McDonald County Schools Foundation cut the ribbon✂️ to officially open the machine for business.
Right after the ribbon cutting, several students got their first books out of it. 📚
The machine was paid for through a matching grant from the Foundation and fundraisers from Noel Primary. Funding for the books was even donated by local businesses and community members.
Students get coins 🪙 for doing good things and then redeem them for books in the machine.
They didn’t waste any time. Right after getting the books, the kids sat down and started reading!
⬆️ That's way better than a candy bar!

😲 A one-of-a-kind opportunity is brewing with McDonald County Schools!
⬇️
Students in the high school’s Supervised Business Experience class got their first look at what is going to be a student-designed and operated coffee shop! ☕️
The project is in partnership with the McDonald County Student Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber recently remodeled its office on Pineville’s square, leaving space for a coffee shop that will be designed and run by the SBE students. 👍
The project is being funded by a grant from T-Mobile awarded to the Student Chamber.
Students took pictures, measured, and dreamed about what this space could look like.
Their next task is to draw out concepts of the shop.
They’ll be back for another visit for more ideas in a couple of weeks!
👀 We’ll be watching and waiting for a great cup of coffee! 😋
