New Superintendent Selected

Some exciting news on the search for a new superintendent for McDonald County Schools.

The Board of Education of the McDonald County R-1 School District has selected Dr. Eric Findley for the position.

Findley is currently the superintendent of schools at Jasper R-5 School District in Jasper, MO.

Here’s some background information that he’s submitted to introduce himself:

“Hello, my name is Dr. Eric Findley. I began to pursue a degree in education at St. Louis Christian College in Florissant Missouri.  I spent two years on the basketball team before transferring to finish my degree at Southwest Missouri State University.  I pursued the field of education so I could teach and coach.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1992.

After teaching elementary physical education and coaching varsity football and basketball, I earned my Master of Education in Administration from William Woods University in 2002.  After a short stint in the private sector as a business owner, I re-entered the field of education as a High School Health teacher, varsity baseball and basketball coach, HS/MS Guidance Counselor, Assistant Principal and then High School Principal at Cole R-V Schools in Eugene. While pursuing and completing my specialist (Lincoln University) and doctoral (Missouri Baptist) degrees, I spent five years as the MS Principal at Warsaw before becoming the Transition Coordinator in the Camdenton School District.  After completing the rebuild of the High Set program, I transitioned into a Superintendent role at High Point R-III.  After spending two years in the High Point District, we moved to the Jasper area to fill the Superintendent vacancy.

I have been married to my wife Jill for 32 years.  We have two children Tyler (21) and Levi (19).  In my spare time, I love to spend time outdoors hunting or walking in the woods, in the shop working on classic cars, or on the golf course. On Sundays, we participate as a family playing music together at our church.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of the McDonald County School District.  I have witnessed many successes in the McDonald County district and I am looking forward to working with the staff to continue those previous accomplishments.  My goal is to continue building a winning atmosphere both in and out of the classroom.  I know that together we will build one family and one community.  Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes!”

McDonald County School Board President Frank Woods said Dr. Findley brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the district and is confident that he will be an invaluable asset to the students, staff, and communities of McDonald County. Of the six candidates that were interviewed, Woods said Findley’s character stood out with the board. “Dr. Findley was very down to earth and seemed very approachable and personable,” said Woods.

Findley will officially start as the Superintendent of McDonald County Schools on July 1, 2023.
