  • heart  of Education Banquet Set for March 11th

     

    The banquet hosted by the McDonald County Schools Foundation honors deserving community members who have demonstrated a true heart for education in McDonald County.  This year's honorees are the Don Underwood family.  The Underwood family has been a vital part of the McDonald County community and schools for over 6 generations.

    Senate District 29 

    Art Winner for Capitol Display

    This drawing was chosen from hundreds of pieces submitted through out our State Senate District 29 represented by Senator David Slator. Every year each district selects one award winning piece which to proudly display in the Missouri Capitol for the calendar year.  The artist whose work will be displayed this year is our very own Samantha Gundel. Samantha, a MCHS junior, has taken art classes all three year in high school. The award wining picture is a pen and ink drawing depicting a scene from her family's property which she created utlizing the stipple technique which requiring hours of work.  Samantha reports she, "Enjoys drawing original pictures relating to my family and the past."  Her art teacher Mrs. Bergen is very proud of Samantha's accomplishment adding, "Samantha is a wonderful student and artist."  In addition to having her art on display at the Missouri State Capital, she will be honored at a reception in Jefferson City on March 16, 2017.
