The McDonald County R-1 High School Community Tornado Safe Room is located at the McDonald County R-1 High School at 100 Mustang Drive, Anderson, MO 64831.  

The Safe Room's first function is to provide protection for students and staff from tornado and dangerous high wind events during school hours. The maximum capacity of 1,506 persons, includes the student body, staff and surrounding residents in community that do not have basements or other safe rooms and live within the "Tornado Protection Zone".  Due to the maximum capacity, the Safe Room cannot provide shelter for those residing beyond the protection zone.

During non-school hours, the Tornado Safe Room will be opened when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning. 

Individuals seeking shelter in the Safe Room who require special accommodations may submit a Special Needs Form to McDonald County R-1 Schools Administration Office.
